Biography

After playing with paints and crayons in art college for 4 years John graduated with distinction and went out into the real world and got a proper job. Working as a graphic designer in TV John directed lots of promos and title sequences (the nice bits that go in front of bad programmes), winning some lovely shiny things for his efforts. During this time he also directed some music videos when his nasty bosses weren’t looking.

In 2001 John was approached to direct TV commercials by the nice people at Toytown Films. Being the well-mannered boy he is he said yes please! He lived there for many years directing commercials for brands like Guinness, Heineken, ESB, O2, Coca-Cola and lots, lots more. Recently John and some of his friends decided to move out and find a place of their own. After much head scratching they’ve decided to call their new home Sweet Media. When he’s not in his room John sometimes goes to work with the lovely people at Dabhandmedia in the UK and Filmservice in Prague.

John also likes to make films and has directed the shorts ‘Two Fat Ladies’ and ‘Venom’, which have shown in festivals around the world winning some more shiny things along the way. At the moment he is in development with the grown-ups at The Irish Film Board on the feature film script ‘Still Life’ as well as continuing to make TV commercials.
